About Mikey
Mikey is probably best known across the UK for starring in Big Brother 9 in 2008. He stepped out the van in front of 5 Million people and a famous clip of him can be seen on Utube eating a Scotch bonnet, one of the hottest chiles in the world. He finished runner-up in one of the closest finals in Big Brother history with only 1.5% between him and winner friend Rachel Rice. £5.5 Million was bet on the bookies for Mikey to win and he was the favourite to win from launch night.
Mikey has been working extremely hard behind the scenes for the last year, learning the Pioneer CDJ DJ decks, and his 4 hours per day, has resulted in him, now being abel to beat-match. Mikey attended a one-one training session at the world famous Ministry of Sound in London and was encouraged by Radio Clyde dance DJ George Bowie.

Mikey lost his sight fully in 1998 but his disability has made him even more determined to succeed.
In November 2009 Mikey stood as an independent candidate to become an MP in the disgraced Ex-Commons speaker Michael Martin’s constituency of Glasgow North-East. Mikey generated lots of national media interest including BBC 1 Panorama, GMTV and an article in the Sunday Times to name afew.
Mikey holds a BSc with Distinction and MPhil Research Degree, he also won a Sony Radio Academy Silver award for researching a radio programme for Insight Radio, broadcast on BBC Radio Scotland.
After losing his sight Mikey volunteered at Birds of Paradise theatre company based in Glasgow and performed in several productions including Rescuers Speaking.
Mikey also worked as a researcher for BBC Radio Scotland’s flagship news programme Good Morning Scotland.
Before losing his sight, Mikey was a Research Associate at Procter and Gamble in conjunction with the University of Portsmouth. Mikey also spent a year in Denmark on a work placement in the Quality Control department of Burmeister and Wain Energy.
Mikey is currently busy writing ideas for radio and TV and has also been filmed for a BBC2 documentary on how disabled people have been portrayed in mainstream TV. featuring disabled people on TV.

The most famous people Mikey has enjoyed meeting was Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders, Mikey enjoyed feeling Jennifer’s nose, that he loved when he used to watch Absolutely Fabulous.
