Mikey has worked for the Royal National Institute of Blind People RNIB since 2003 at their radio station:

He is currently an oficial fundraiser for the RNIB and the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association.

He is raising 5K for guide pup ‘Mario’ in honour of some people saying Mario was his guide dog in the Big Brother house, Mario is raising money for a ‘Mikey’ pup.

Mikey is pleased that bookies Paddy Power have said that if Mikey is PM by 2015 they will give The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association £1 Million and £1000 even if he does not become PM.

Mikey also absailed down the Titan crane over the River Clyde, which stands at 150feet tall, no mean feat for somebody who is totally blind, and it being their first absail.  This was in aid of Sense Scotland which helps DeafBlind people.

Mikey is proud to be reading a poem on the Guide Cats for the Blind charity C Dsat Nav, other readers on the disc include the Archbishop of Canterbury! singer Nick kershaw and Alan Tischmarsh.  All in aid of the British Computer Association for the Blind.

Mikey was also the bingo caller for an Ayrshire hospice fundraiser that raised several hundred pounds.

He also helped kids of Garnock Academy with their fundraiser for Guide Dogs, over £700 was raised.

St. Matthew’s Academy also had Mikey on the catwalk where he helped raise money for children in Africa.

Mikey has also attended charity events and spoke to community groups.
